How to Redeem Your Impounded Vehicle

In order for your vehicle to be released by Parkway Wrecker Service Inc.

The person who is seeking to redeem the vehicle must be the registered person associated with the vehicle. (Exception: See Releasing Vehicle to a Friend.)

Valid picture identification must be presented by the registered or legal owner of the vehicle.

All towing and storage fees have to be paid in full.

Our internal company policy is that we do not release cars on open titles or bills of sale until properly transferred.

Releasing to a Friend

The only acceptable way to allow another party to claim the vehicle or its contents is by a notarized letter from the registered or legal owner. The letter has to state your name, vehicle identification number, and the notarized signature of the registered or legal owner. The person who redeems the vehicle or its contents on behalf of the owner must present valid picture identification.

Claiming Personal Property From an Impounded Vehicle

  • If the vehicle has been placed on a police hold, NO ONE can see, touch, or remove property from the vehicle.
  • Nothing from inside or attached to the vehicle can be removed, such as (but not limited to) batteries, tires, radios, amplifiers, and speakers.
  • A notarized letter is needed if another person that is not the legal owner or registered is removing the property.

A copy of your driver's license is also required.

The Department of Licensing Records are the only certain way to determine the legal owner of the vehicle, so the state requires we go through them to prove that a person is who they say they are.
